CEA DSV – IBS
The Institut de Biologie Structurale (IBS) is a research centre in a field that is essential for understanding fundamental biological mechanisms : STRUCTURAL BIOLOGY. The IBS possesses cutting edge facilities and hosts visiting scientists and students.
The Institute performs interdisciplinary research at the interface of biology, physics and chemistry, and combines:
- fundamental research,
- technical innovation
- hosting of scientists
- training of young researchers
- a site that facilitates access to European research institutes
The IBS employs approximately 270 people and comprises sixteen groups. The Institute’s director is Winfried Weissenhorn.
The IBS is part of the Partnership for Structural Biology (PSB), whose primary objective is to carry out high-throughput structural investigations of proteins and other molecules, with a particular focus on molecules related to human diseases.
