UEB – European University of Brittany
The UEB: promoting the excellence and visibility of north-west France
As the umbrella organisation of higher education and research establishments in Brittany, the Université européenne de Bretagne (UEB - European University of Brittany) is responsible for the development of joint strategy.
This regional hub is also the sponsor of joint projects which are international in scope, such as officially-designated laboratoires d'excellence and sociétés d'accélération du transfert de technologies (SATT - technology transfer acceleration companies), and a multisite digital campus that is unique in Europe.
Created in March 2007, the UEB is a Pôle de recherche et d'enseignement supérieure (PRES - Research and Higher Education Hub), and was part of the first wave of such hubs to be given the government's seal of approval.
The UEB brings together 28 higher education and research establishments (universities, grandes écoles, research bodies, and university teaching hospitals) from all over Brittany. It has its origins in the long-standing partnership and networking activities that had already been initiated between the different organisations within Brittany's higher education structure.
The creation of the UEB demonstrates its members' wish to further develop this cooperative approach.
Today, its activities are carried out within the 2012-2016 strategic framework, which was determined by the Conseil d'Administration, its governing body, in late 2011.
Areas of expertise
The UEB has wide-ranging areas of expertise, including research, doctoral studies and training, technology transfer and innovation, European and international relations, the monitoring of graduate employment, digital development, and life-long education and training.
