The Fraunhofer EMB associates have been working in the field of stem cell research on various organisms and organs since 2004 and are, together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Engineering (IBMT), the only Fraunhofer Institute that operates a cell bank for wild animals, the “Alfred Brehm” German Cell Bank for Wildlife (German: Deutsche Zellbank für Wildtiere “Alfred Brehm” (CRYO-BREHM).
