Safe information flows and smooth processes as well as long-term stable IT-systems are vital for the success of business ventures and projects of enterprises and of the public sector. Furthermore, specific information supply becomes more and more relevant to private users, for instance for mobile devices – for example within the context of health care or for early warning systems for severe weather.

We aim at supporting our customers and partners with creating such complex IT-systems as well as with implementing adequate solutions for secure provision of information according to the needs. Since the institute was founded in the year 1992, highly skilled ISST-researchers systematically developed industrial standards, reliable architectures and customized concepts. Furthermore, with COMPARC, our »Competence Center for Architectures and Processes« we established a One-Stop-Shop for business process-management and IT-architectures.

Being committed to the applied research, the Fraunhofer ISST is an intermediary between science and practice: Results from fundamental research are being implemented in industrial projects – from the idea to the realization. At the same time, experiences made at the institute are flowing back into scientific research and academic teaching. The biggest potential for this purpose are our members of staff from research and administration, who provide the basis for lively personal and professional exchange, even beyond project work.
