The FHW
The Fachhochschule Westküste has been an initiative of local entrepreneurs and politicians. It was founded in 1993 and startet in rented rooms. Thus, already in 1997 the first graduates left our university.
In 2000 the university moved to the new buildings east of Heide. In 2008 already 400 beginners started their studies and nowadays more than 1100 are enrolled at the FHW.
The Bologna process was started in 2004, the FHW has been the first university in Schleswig-Holstein that completely switched to the bachelor und master degrees. All courses are accredited in line with the Washington Accord.
The FHW now has regular contacts to more than 20 universities all over the world.
