About your role
You will conduct independent and collaborative research within the project scope. Your responsibilities include:
- Undertaking research aligned with the project's core questions
- Contributing to peer-reviewed publications and research outputs
- Participating in project meetings, departmental seminars and activities organised by the collaborating institutions
- Managing and analysing data according to the research plan
- Optionally supervising BSc/MSc students as department needs require
About youWe look for candidates who can demonstrate high-quality research capability. Specifically, you should have:
- A PhD obtained in a relevant field such as Economics, Sociology, Political Science, Psychology, Demography, Statistics, Statistical Genetics, Bioinformatics or a closely related discipline.
- Documented research expertise demonstrated through the quality of your doctoral thesis and/or other publications.
- A strong background in quantitative methods, experience with register data, and familiarity with molecular genetic methods (such as GWAS or polygenic indexes).
- High proficiency in written and spoken English.

- A contract for 24 months, with the possibility to extend for one year.
- Classification in salary scale 10: € 3.598 to € 5.669 gross for full-time employment (depending on experience). In addition to a good basic salary, we offer 8.3% end-of-year bonus. Calculate your net salary here. As of 1 July 2026, the salary will be increased by 3.5% in accordance with the collective labor agreement (CAO UMC).
- Holiday hours: 190.4 per year for fulltime and a possibility to save additional hours.
- Pension accrual with BeFrank, a modern, comprehensible and fairly priced pension.
- For >7 km each way, 100% reimbursement for public transport travel costs and, for private transport, €0.18 per km up to a maximum of 40 km each way.
- Do you prefer walking or cycling? Take advantage of our good bike scheme. Moreover, you will receive a reimbursement of €0.18 per km.
