About your role
We are looking for an independent junior postdoctoral researcher who will further develop and exploit this model system.
You will:
- characterize synaptic communication between neurons and tumor cells in vitro in detail;
- develop and execute a CRISPR-based screening approach to identify key regulators of neuron–tumor synapses;
- identify potential therapeutic targets that may slow down glioblastoma progression;
- collaborate closely with a dedicated technician and a PhD candidate;
- contribute to experimental design, data interpretation and scientific publications.
You will work at the interface of cellular neuroscience, cancer biology and functional genomics, in a rapidly evolving research field with strong translational potential.
About youWe are looking for a motivated scientist with a strong experimental and analytical background.
You bring:
- a PhD in cellular neuroscience, biophysics or a related field;
- extensive hands-on experience with in vitro models, preferably iPSC-based systems;
- strong expertise in live cell imaging and advanced microscopy techniques;
- experience with complex data analysis and bioinformatics approaches;
- a strong drive to build an academic research career in neuroscience.
Our offer- You will be employed by Amsterdam UMC Research BV.
- A contract for 12 months, with the intention to extend for a total of 4 years.
- Classification in salary scale 10: € 3.598 to € 5.669 gross for full-time employment (depending on experience). In addition to a good basic salary, we offer 8.3% end-of-year bonus. Calculate your net salary here. As of 1 July 2026, the salary will be increased by 3.5% in accordance with the collective labor agreement (CAO UMC).
- Holiday hours: 194.4 per year for full time and a possibility to save additional hours.
- 100% reimbursement for public transport travel costs. If you travel by foot, bicycle, or car, a mileage allowance of €0.21 per km applies (up to a maximum of 40 km one way by car).
