The Company

Sitryx Therapeutics is a drug discovery company focused on harnessing immuno-metabolism to develop new therapies to treat auto-immunity and inflammation.   We are building a broad pipeline of first- and best-in-class therapies by identifying novel targeted approaches based on how changes in metabolism modulate immune cell function.

The Role

We are looking for a fresh PhD graduate, or someone with an undergraduate/masters degree with some industry experience to work with our Bioinformatics lead to develop our bioinformatics capability. The successful candidate will leverage publicly available and Sitryx-generated omics datasets, including transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics, to provide insights into targets and mechanisms of action. This role will help uncover novel therapeutic targets and pathways, contributing to innovative treatments in immuno-metabolism. This is a 12-18 month fixed-term contract.

Main Responsibilities

  • Leading the development and growth of the in-house omics database
  • Ensuring omics data is processed using well established and up-to-date methods to generate high quality, analysis-ready data.
  • Developing and implementing sophisticated analysis methods, including meta-analysis and Machine Learning (ML) to interrogate the different omics datasets across different immune-related disorders to identify novel therapeutic targets and pathways.
  • Develop visualisation tools and dashboards using RShiny to allow team members easy access to the data

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in processing and analysing transcriptomics data, including performing quality control checks, exploring technical and biological artifacts, correcting for batch effects (COMBAT and SVA), PCA analysis, gene quantification, gene annotation, differential expression analysis (limma and Deseq2) and pathway analysis.
  • Experience in acquiring and processing publicly available omics data from repositories such as GEO, ArrayExpress and SRA
  • Strong R programmer with knowledge of code modularisation, RShiny and version control using git.
  • Experience in developing bioinformatics pipelines
  • Familiarity with Linux OS and cloud computing

Desirable Requirements

  • PhD in immunology, metabolism, cellular or computational science, or a higher degree with several years of working as a data scientist in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Pipeline development using Nextflow and docker
  • Knowledge and experience in apply ML to omics data for drug discovery
  • Multi-omics experience and integrative analysis of different omics datasets
  • Small molecule drug discovery and development experience.
  • Knowledge of relevant areas of biology such as metabolism, immunology and cancer biology.
  • Experience with working collaboratively across organisations and managing their interactions to maximise benefit to the company.

Behaviours
