Clinical Senior Lecturer in Ovarian Cancer (Honorary Consultant, Teaching & Research)

Publicerad 2025-01-02

To build our capacity in ovarian cancer research, we will make a targeted tenure-track Clinical Senior Lecturer appointment. Your research strategy will have a strong emphasis on tumour-cell-intrinsic biology and potential to drive innovation at the discovery/translational interface. You will also have a track record working on ovarian cancer and already have an established network of local collaborators, including clinical/non-clinical partners. Indeed, alongside this post we are also separately recruiting two discovery-scientists in ovarian cancer, which will provide excellent collaborative opportunities.

Our location adjacent to Europe’s largest single-site cancer hospital provides world-leading biobanking opportunities; we are therefore interested in individuals looking to exploit our existing ‘reverse translational’ pipelines that enable interrogation of biological mechanisms, novel therapeutics, and biomarkers in patient-derived samples. You will have a vision for how your research will address key clinical challenges and important research questions, and you will bring something new to the local environment, e.g., new technologies, ideas, and ways of working. You will be a future leader in your field, driving exciting research that enhances our existing strengths, and we will support you in the development of an independent and aspirational research programme. You will already appreciate that training the next generation is both important and rewarding, and we will provide opportunities to shape our undergraduate teaching programmes and postgraduate training pathways.

At Manchester, we embrace, celebrate and respect difference. We support each other to create an environment where everyone is able to reach their full potential. The Division’s ethos is to promote an inclusive environment where all staff and students have voices with potential to influence positive change. We encourage applications from talented individuals from wide and diverse backgrounds, and in particular those currently underrepresented. The School of Medical Sciences holds a Silver Athena SWAN award which recognises good practice in relation to gender, flexible working arrangements, family-friendly policies, and good work-life balance. All appointments are made on merit.

Process: In addition to the application form, please submit a CV and a 3-page research vision statement on the same document.
