Digital Engagement Lead & Public Policy Research Assistant

Publicerad 2024-09-26

The non-partisan think tank Reform Scotland has a strong and well-established impact within Scotland’s public policy community. We regularly engage with politicians, civil servants, journalists and civic society. We are a small organisation and recognise that key to our success is bringing our research to the widest possible audience. As a result our reports and evidence based research have always been accessible online and we have actively targeted mainstream media coverage.

Whilst that is still a primary aim, we recognise that more and more people receive their news in different ways, especially through social media channels and while we regularly share links to our content, this isn’t enough anymore. As a result, we are seeking to expand our team in order to increase our reach.

Role:

Primary responsibilities

·      Convert policy recommendations and research insights into impactful digital content.

·      Manage social media engagement and campaigns to promote research findings and policy recommendations.

Secondary responsibilities

·      Assist the Research Director with research, analysing data, and preparing detailed reports.

·      Identify reactive opportunities where we could promote existing work such as parliamentary debates, consultations etc.

·      General work assisting the director as and when.

 Skills:

·           Experience managing social media platforms and engaging an online audience.

·           Excellent communication skills with an ability to condense complex ideas into clear insights and plans.

·           Interest in public policy and government with an understanding of devolution and politics in Scotland.

·           Ability to work independently and with a high degree of autonomy, creativity and execution.

·           Strong analytical skills.

Pay & conditions:

£30-£35k per annum (depending on experience) paid pro rata, plus an additional 10% of salary paid as a pension contribution.

Remote working but will need to attend occasional meetings and events in Edinburgh.

This is an exciting new opportunity to work within the organisation. As such we are willing to consider applications for either full or part-time hours. To apply please email a covering letter and copy of your CV to Alison.Payne@reformscotland.com
