This is an opportunity to join our Biological and Biomedical Sciences team, part of the department of Life and Environmental Sciences, a buoyant department which has seen continued growth in student numbers, significant investment in physical and staff resources, new state-of-the-art laboratories and a growing research profile.

As Lecturer (Academic) in Biomedical Science, you will support teaching and research. Enthusiastic about student-centred pedagogy, you will contribute to education delivery, including programme management as required, across foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will supervise students from first year to PhD level. You will also make a significant contribution to employability, and professional engagement with internal and external organisations, at regional, national and international levels.

You will contribute to teaching in a range of courses including Biomedical, Medical and Biological Sciences and Foundation Year in Science. Strong research and pedagogic focus in subjects related to biomedical sciences is essential. Applicants should demonstrate a wide range of knowledge and ability to work in laboratories in a research and teaching capacity. We are looking for applicants with specialisms in topics such as bio/medical diagnostics, point of care testing, blood sciences, medical microbiology, clinical biochemistry. Other relevant specialisms will be considered and candidates with clinically aligned skills and interests, as well as Fellows of the IBMS, will be especially favoured. As this is a part time role, we welcome applications from biomedical or clinical scientists who would like to retain their professional practice/HCPC registration in parallel.

You will be qualified to Doctoral level or be able to demonstrate ability to create and disseminate knowledge at an equivalent level and the capability to convert this knowledge into a doctorate in a maximum of 3-5 years from date of appointment. You will be research active and committed to a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement.

This appointment is part of a strategic investment in research and teaching of Medical and Biomedical Sciences at Bournemouth University.
