ICPI is a beacon of educational excellence, combining the strengths of two world-class institutions to cultivate the next generation of pharmacy, pharmaceutical, and biomedical science professionals.

Located on Soochow University's cutting-edge Future Campus, ICPI offers students the unique opportunity to earn dual degrees, awarded by both RCSI and Soochow University.

We intend to deliver three programmes, currently running in Dublin in the School of Pharmacy & Biomolecular Sciences (PBS), namely, BSc Pharmacy (BSc Pharm), BSc Applied Therapeutic Technologies (BSc ATT) & MSc Research, all of which commence in September 2024.

Our programmes, which have been designed in collaboration with clinical, research and industry experts, will prepare students to better meet the demands of the changing healthcare landscape.

The new International College of Pharmaceutical Innovation brings together the best of both universities, merging student-centred education and innovative research to ensure we develop graduates that will succeed in the workplace or in postgraduate research.

There is a bright future ahead for the first cohort of students starting in September.

We are currently seeking to appoint a number of academic staff who are not only passionate about teaching & researching, but who would also like to experience working in a multicultural and international environment and in so doing, join a growing team of academics working on this exciting collaboration.

Background to Soochow University: Founded in 1900, Soochow University is a research-intensive university ranked in the top 5% of Chinese universities with a strong strategic focus on increasing its internationalisation and its rankings.

Soochow University is located in the city of Suzhou in the Jiangsu province and is a short train journey from Shanghai.

It is considered the most developed of the 22 provinces in China with the bio/pharmaceutical industry a major source of employment in the region.

Why This Role Matters: We are seeking applications for a number of full-time, permanent Lecturer / Senior Lecturer roles who will be employed by the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences in RCSI and will be responsible for planning & delivering RSCI-led teaching activities in the International College of Pharmaceutical Innovation, in China.

Your Impact: As a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer at ICPI, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering our cutting-edge curriculum.

You'll inspire and engage students through innovative teaching methods and be instrumental in advancing research that addresses the evolving challenges in healthcare.

What You'll Do: Inspire Learning: Deliver and assess pharmacy and pharmaceutical science courses, ensuring a transformative educational experience for our students.

Lead Research: Establish and grow a research program that not only thrives in Ireland but also taps into the wealth of knowledge and innovation at Soochow University.

Innovate Education: Contribute to the development of forward-thinking teaching materials and assessment methods that set new standards in pharmacy education.

Drive Excellence: Be a key player in the quality assurance and accreditation processes, ensuring that our programs maintain their world-class status.

However, in recognition of Soochow University's leading reputation in research, you will be encouraged to actively engage with colleagues in Soochow to identify how productive collaborations may be generated and increase your international research portfolio.

Who We're Looking For: We're looking for passionate educators and researchers with a PhD in one of the following areas: Role 1: Basic sciences related to pharmacy (e.g., pharmacology, biochemistry).

Role 2: Clinically-relevant pharmacy fields, with expertise in microbiology or antimicrobial stewardship.

Role 3: Computational Biology/Data Analytics, with strong programming skills and an understanding of AI and machine learning.

Role 4: Pharmaceutical industry experience, with a deep knowledge of manufacturing and regulatory processes.

For more details re the roles, see the job specification below Specific Responsibilities include: Undertaking overseas assignments, as per objectives and requirements of the role Participating in the delivery and administration of current teaching programmes, teaching modalities and assessment in pharmacy and the pharmaceutical and biological sciences for the various programmes of the JEI Securing funding to sustain a research group of postgraduate students and other research staff, with resultant publications in journals of high quality/impact Fostering industry-academia interactions and commercialization of research findings, where applicable Contributing to the development and introduction of new teaching programmes/materials, teaching modalities and modes of assessment Contribute as required, to the different working groups and committees within the ICPI to ensure the smooth running and administration of the College and academic programmes.

Liaising with colleagues across RCSI international campuses in the facilitation of research and teaching activities Undergoing programmes of training and development as may be required Supervising undergraduate research students and postgraduate students at Masters and PhD level Participating in the development of RCSI's teaching and learning strategy including the effective use of technology-enhanced learning Contributing to quality assurance/quality improvement and accreditation of existing modules Performing such other related duties as may be required Representing the best interests of the School and RCSI at all times Person Specification Essential: PhD degree or equivalent (further specifications below, dependent on role) Competitive research record, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications in journals of high quality/impact and grant support Strong teaching interest and skill set, as evidenced by experience of, a proven track record in, and enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching and assessment in Pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences or the biological sciences Enthusiasm for your specialist teaching area and the ability to engage your students to successfully transfer this passion and learning Capacity for original thought and the ability to produce original and up to date teaching methods An ability to continuously adapt and innovate teaching methods to ensure students' full understanding Demonstrate an interest in seeking ways and opportunities to support students' whole development Effective communication style appropriate to audience and situation Strong commitment to own personal and professional development Has excellent time-management skills to effectively progress across all three domains of responsibilities (teaching, research, and service) Can build and maintain strong working relationships Has a proven ability for both independent working and teamwork We are all too aware that imposter syndrome and the confidence gap can sometimes stop fantastic candidates putting themselves forward, so please do apply
