The role

The post-holder will develop and lead a substantial programme of research on genetic epidemiology applied to one or more of cancer aetiology, mechanisms, molecular risk prediction/stratification and progression in collaboration with colleagues in the Department, School (e.g. Bristol NIHR Biomedical Research Centre), Faculty, University and internationally (e.g. International Agency for Research on Cancer). What will you be doing?

Lead genetic epidemiological research of population health relevance, with a focus on cancer aetiology, mechanisms, molecular risk prediction/stratification and progression, that complements existing research strengths at the University of Bristol. Develop and deliver a portfolio of research that has translational potential and build links to realise these translational activities. Secure substantial research funding, from publicly funded research funding agencies charities, and other relevant organisations. Critically interpret findings and disseminate these through high quality academic publications, conferences and other forms of dissemination that lead to impact.

You should apply if

You have a depth and breadth of knowledge in cancer epidemiology and population health science with the experience of leading and conducting high-quality genetic and/or molecular epidemiology. You must have evidence of leading research proposal development with a record of winning grant funding to support research and support of successful funding bids with a strong publication record.
