Role Description:

  • Plan, deliver, assess, evaluate, and manage classroom activities to maximize learner achievement and success.
Primary Responsibilities:
Teaching and Classroom Duties:
  1. Teach a variety of study programs to maximize learner success.
  2. Set, monitor, assess, review, and record learning outcomes and progress.
  3. Provide pre-course, on-course information, advice, and assessment to support learners.
  4. Ensure correct enrollment and track attendance, progress, and achievements.
  5. Ensure compliance with service policies for visitors.
Other Duties (Non-contact Time):
  1. Prepare and assess learners for program completion.
  2. Provide necessary information for exams or other assessments.
  3. Design and develop courses aligning with service objectives.
  4. Provide written course information for dissemination.
  5. Stay updated on professional developments and participate in CPD programs.
  6. Attend and contribute to team and service meetings.
  7. Contribute to service-wide initiatives and events.
  8. Participate in the annual professional cover duty rota.
  9. Contribute to quality improvement strategies and annual self-assessment.
  10. Promote and work within Council’s policies on Equal Opportunities.
  11. Adhere to service and Council policies, including health and safety, data protection, and financial regulations.
  12. Align actions with the Council’s climate and ecological emergency declaration.
Qualifications and Training:
Essential:
  • Level 3 Teaching Qualification (commitment to achieve Level 4).
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
Desirable:
  • Degree or higher-level qualification relevant to the program area.
  • Assessor/Verification Qualification.
  • First Aid Qualification.
Experience:
Essential:
  • Successful adult teaching experience.
  • Experience working with adults of different abilities and motivations.
Desirable:
  • Experience in curriculum development.
  • Experience with OFSTED Inspection framework.
  • Experience managing and supporting staff.
Knowledge and Awareness:
Essential:
  • Understanding of contexts and factors influencing adult learning and success.
Desirable:
  • Awareness of local adults’ learning and skills needs.
Skills and Abilities:
Essential:
  • Proficiency in ICT and its application in teaching.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to equality of opportunity and learner support.
  • Effective timekeeping and administrative skills.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement aligning with the service’s mission.
