With a large portfolio of industrially funded projects, the Advanced Research Engineer (ARE) Welding/Joining role will contribute to, and lead projects for, the development of Welding solutions for MTC customers.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAs an Advanced Research Engineer (ARE) you will:Be largely independent supply of larger project's technical deliverables, and act as Technical Lead for smaller projects where required; ensuring work meets or exceeds agreed customer requirements, within agreed budgets and timescales.Undertake innovative Engineering research work focused primarily on technology/manufacturing readiness levels (TRL/MRL) 3+, and able to demonstrate industrial project delivery.Contribute in the identification, technical specification and delivery of new and novel technology capability into the MTC, customers, or industrial members premises.This role will require involvement in all aspects of the project delivery including but not restricted to:Concept generationDetailed designEnsuring compliance with all relevant standardsTechnical support of commissioningAwareness of project budget and deliverables.Person SpecificationWe are looking for a candidate who is/has:Degree calibre engineer or technologist.Knowledge and demonstrable experience in any or all the following areas:Welding/joining;Robotic/automated welding;Arc welding;Welding standards and application of welding standards;Welding qualification;Directed Energy Deposition (DED);Process development.Ideally working towards professional registration.Ideally have experience in writing reports and presenting to wider audiences.Ideally have exposure to the UK manufacturing sector.For more information, please see the job description attached.JBRP1_UKTJ
