The Role

We are seeking a molecular bioscientist with cross-disciplinary interests contributing to Level 3 to 7 courses. Biosciences sits within the School of Life Sciences, Pharmacy & Chemistry and ranks 5th in London in The Complete University Guide. We hope to fill this position with an academic who has formal training in molecular biosciences and its relationship with human disease. You will join a group of academics who are successfully conducting pedagogically-led teaching, lab practicals, workshops, seminars and using forward-thinking approaches. You will deliver and assess on a range of modules in fully accredited bioscience programmes using a vibrant approach to education with increasing digital content that can be translated into real-world skills. You will contribute to the personal tutor scheme, offering pastoral support to students and help them maximise their chances of success.

The Person

You will hold a doctorate in the field of molecular biosciences, and knowledge of their applications to human disease. Experience in the area of molecular genetics would be desirable. On a personal level, to deliver exceptional teaching and support to our students will be your core motivation. You will use your experience to promote practical knowledge to students that they will take with them in their future study and career. Constantly seeking to improve, you will scrutinise your own work and work collaboratively to enhance the Faculty and School’s reputation in higher education and occupational circles. Students at Kingston University come from a broad range of backgrounds and educational experiences and the person undertaking this position will play a key role in allowing such students to realise their potential.

Applicants will be required to demonstrate that they meet the Kingston University standards in learning and teaching, and research. By the end of the probation period, you must have achieved the relevant level of UKPSF recognition (if this has not already been obtained). For those new to teaching, this will be through our accredited Introduction to Learning and Teaching and for those experienced in teaching, through our Kingston Academic Practice Standards Framework.
