Lecturer in Human Heart Physiology
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a lecturer in human heart electrophysiology within the Cardiovascular Division of the National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI), Faculty of Medicine. The NHLI is at the forefront of the application of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to cardiovascular research and there is an opportunity to use electrophysiological data for more effective diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. We seek an experienced scientist with an in-depth knowledge of human heart electrophysiology and the application of AI for more effective diagnosis and treatment of arrythmias in cardiac disease who will lead a research program in this area.
The successful applicant will be based at Hammersmith in the Cardiac Function Section, NHLI, where they will be expected to develop their own research program at the intersection between the experimental and artificial intelligence areas of electrophysiology. They will be expected to drive this exciting new area of research and foster its growth in College by leading the NHLI Human Heart Tissue Programme. This is a unique programme to capture rejected donor human hearts for study in research. This “NHLI Human Heart Tissue Programme” provides an exceptional access to study heart function and has attracted a panoply of research groups that study failing and donor human heart tissue. Access to human heart tissue from donors and failing hearts provides an ideal platform for the candidate to develop a research programme to study arrythmias.
