Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer in International Business/ Strategy

Queen's Business School (QBS) at Queen’s University Belfast is currently seeking to appoint one or more exceptional candidates to the post of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in International Business/Strategy. These are key posts within QBS's Department of International Business, Entrepreneurship, & Marketing (IBEM). Successful candidates will have the opportunity to shape and strengthen the future direction of the IBEM Department from both a research and teaching perspective. Our supportive research environment enables attendance at international conferences, facilitates the pursuit of high-quality publications and fosters meaningful engagement with non-academic stakeholders. The appointed candidates will get the opportunity to interact and work with colleagues whose research is internationally renowned for excellence and societal impact. Current members of the IBEM Department have published their work in leading scholarly journals including Global Strategy Journal, Academy of Management Perspectives, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Research Policy, Organizational Research Methods, Journal of World Business, Human Resource Management Journal, Journal of Information Technology, Economic History Review, and Journal of Service Research. IBEM Department’s research is funded by multiple grant awarding bodies including the Economic and Social Research Council, British Academy, British Academy of Management, The Northern Ireland Department for the Economy, and the Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.

About the person:

Appointed candidates are expected to undertake research in line with the School’s research strategy, design and deliver modules, contribute to the development of undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes, and contribute to the School’s internationalisation, outreach, and administrative activities.

Qualifications

  • A completed PhD (or very close to completion for Lecturer) in Management or cognate fields.
  • Research

  • An established programme of research activity and dissemination of original, high-quality research in the fields of International Business and/or Strategy, in line with accepted norms for Lecturer/Senior Lecturer.
  • A sustained track record of high-quality peer reviewed International Business and/or Strategy publications as appropriate to norms for Lecturer/Senior Lecturer.
  • Ability to develop and lead a major programme of individual or collaborative International Business or Strategy research.
  • Ability to contribute to successful, sustained postgraduate student supervision as primary supervisor, normally at PhD level.
  • Teaching

    For Lecturer:

  • Evidence of the ability and willingness to teach and assess at university level in one or more of the following areas: International Business, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Strategy, Technological Innovation.
  • Ability and willingness to deliver excellent classroom and online teaching.
  • A willingness to provide support and guidance to students, including pastoral support.
  • For Senior Lecturer:

  • Experience of teaching and assessing at university level in one or more of the following areas: International Business, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Strategy, Technological Innovation.
  • Demonstrable excellence in classroom teaching and online delivery of teaching.
  • A record of providing support and guidance to students, including pastoral support.
  • Management and Administration

  • Evidence of administrative and academic leadership activities as appropriate to norms for Lecturer/Senior Lecturer.
  • Ability and willingness to contribute to the strategic and operational management of the IBEM Department and the School.
