An opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy at London SouthBankUniversity. The successful candidate will join an excellent, diverse, dynamic and hardworking physiotherapy team to provide high quality Physiotherapy education.

Ideally, applications will demonstrate a track record in physiotherapy and practice education; however, we are prepared to support the right candidate to achieve this whilst working at LSBU.

The successful candidate will support the Head of Division in the delivery of physiotherapy education and research within the Division of Physiotherapy, Sport Rehabilitation and Chiropractic across the BSc (Hons) and pre Registration MSc Physiotherapy programmes.

We are therefore seeking to recruit an experienced registered physiotherapist to take up this post. The successful candidate will join a diverse team committed to enhancing the healthcare workforce in partnership with providers across London, Essex and the south East with the aim of transforming physiotherapy services for the benefit of our communities.

Main duties of the job

About You: We are looking to hear from candidates who have the followingskills/experience:

HCPC registrant as a Physiotherapist

Degree plus preferably PGCE or Masters relevantexperience (For Grade 8).

Experience of working with a broad rangephysiotherapy experience:

o Experiencedat organising and facilitating workshops/events.

o Experienceof teaching

o Currentworking physiotherapy knowledge and insight into national and local guidelines

o Respiratoryspecialism and/or extensive experience desirable

The ideal candidate will be degree educated, be highlymotivated and bring a thorough understanding of the Physiotherapy profession inthe UK and internationally. Should have a passion for teaching and enhancingPhysiotherapy education and supporting the current workforce.

Job responsibilities

Lecturers/Senior Lecturers will discuss an appropriate andreasonable balance of activities with their line manager at their annualreview, to contribute to the needs of the School and University, and to supporttheir personal development.

1. Core activities - Learning andteaching

(a) Prepare effective and original educational materials todeliver high quality teaching as evidenced by predominantly strong modulefeedback and high student success on taught modules, as appropriate, in thesubject area.

(b) Undertake module co-ordination/leadership, as appropriate,including contributing to the development of specified, high qualitymodules/courses which meet students needs as specified by the Executive Dean(or delegate)/Head of Division.

(c) Prepare, invigilate, mark and moderate assessments, inaccordance with University policies and procedures, providing provide timelyand effective feedback to students.

(d) Contribute to the practice based learning of students,fieldtrips, residentials and other student activities as required from time totime.

(e) Provide personal tutoring to individual students inaccordance with University policies and procedures as required from time totime.

(b) Administrative duties required forthe smooth running of the School, including monitoring attendance, maintainingassessment records and carrying out module evaluations, in accordance with theregulations of the time.

Experience

Essential

  • Teaching experience
  • Evidence of ability to meet the teaching needs of the School at degree level, postgraduate level and undertake PhD supervision in the subject areas:
  • Pedagogy
  • Evidence of a reflective and thoughtful approach to pedagogy with emphasis on: effective communication; the use of stimulating and effective learning and teaching strategies; and the development of effective blended learning strategies.
  • Academic management and planning
  • Ability to contribute to Academic Management and Planning at Division and School levels. Ability to take a leadership role within the Division with a proven record of management skills including the ability to motivate staff. Able to demonstrate an ability to successfully undertake the management of projects.
  • Supporting students
  • Ability to work as a team member to enhance the quality of taught provision, increase levels of student satisfaction, improve levels of student retention, progression and employability, and support student enterprise activities.
  • Research and scholarship, enterprise, and professional engagement
  • Evidence of significant achievement or potential to make a substantial contribution to the work of the Division and School in respect of at least one of the following three areas:
