HSDC is seeking a Lecturer/Teacher of Automotive Studies to ensure outstanding success and progression through the delivery of inspirational teaching, learning and assessment.

This opportunity will suit someone with a passion for both the subject and for student success. The postholder must be self-motivated and innovative, with the ability to inspire our students.

The ideal candidates will have a great track record of achievement across a range of learning groups and levels, will be enthusiastic, committed and professional. HSDC has an excellent track record in automotive studies and the successful applicants will become part of a dedicated, dynamic, and learner-focused team.

You will work with engaging professionals in a well-resourced college and enjoy excellent conditions of employment. Current courses include Entry, Levels 1, 2 & T Level and Apprenticeships with full and part-time provision.

Full and part-time applicants are welcome. The postholder will join our team from August 2024.

Salary : Grade 5 £32,201.16 - £42,078.86 depending on experience, plus £500 market supplement FTE to be reviewed annually.

Contract type : Permanent

You will be responsible for

  • Planning effectively and delivering high quality teaching, learning, assessment and support, leading to excellent attendance, retention and achievement.
  • To deliver formal scheduled teaching duties, tutorials (as appropriate) and student assessment.
  • To record, share and regularly monitor student progress using College information systems.
  • To prepare learning plans schemes of work, keep relevant records and undertake all administration relevant to teaching duties.
  • To attend parents’ evenings, marketing and promotional events.

You will need

  • Level 5 or equivalent Teaching Qualification such as Certificate in Education or PGCE or willingness to work towards this.
  • High level of specialist knowledge of the subject area
  • At least 2 years’ experience in teaching the subject area to full-time or part-time students (Desirable).
  • Degree in relevant subject (Desirable)

-For those who are new to teaching, you will be welcome to join our level 3 Award in Education & Training. This is a 10-week introduction to teaching course which will be fully funded by HSDC to support you to develop inclusive teaching and learning.

-For more experienced teachers, or those who have completed the Award, you will be welcome to join our Certificate in Education or PGCE course through our partnership with Portsmouth University. You will receive a financial contribution and a reduction in teaching time to support you in becoming a fully qualified teacher!
