The University of Sunderland’s new School of Medicine has welcomed its fifth cohort of students. This marks a very exciting time for our University, our NHS partners, and the City/Region.

With a track record of excellence in health education spanning almost 100 years, the University is well placed to contribute to the expansion of medical training and help to address the chronic shortage in some medical specialties including general practice in the Northeast. We have a significant focus on widening access and will deploy our expertise to ensure we recruit students from the communities they will ultimately serve.

Our programme allows medical students to learn within our state-of-the-art teaching and learning spaces, including outstanding laboratory facilities, the latest in high fidelity clinical simulation equipment and some of the best hospital and GP settings in England.

About the role

We are therefore seeking a Principal Lecturer – Academic Admissions Lead to provide strategic leadership to all aspects of the medical school admissions within the Undergraduate Medical Degree Programme. You will provide operational management and oversight of medical school admissions, ensuring all applicants receive all necessary support throughout the admissions process.

What you can bring

The successful candidate will have significant experience of teaching and learning within a University Medical School, significant experience of undergraduate medical degree selection using the lens of the GMC’s standards in medical education and hold a postgraduate qualification in a relevant field.

Please note interviews will be held in-person, on-campus only, on 20th May 2024
