About the role

We are looking for a talented researcher to join a curiosity-driven team to investigate the role of ubiquitin ligases in virus infection. This project aims to explore how ubiquitin ligases impact the innate immune response, particularly in the context of enterovirus and retrovirus infections. You will apply classical virology techniques and molecular biology methodologies, contributing to cutting-edge research in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

What you would be doing

  • In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the project, by developing and testing new reagents, performing virus infections and collecting and analysing acquired data.
  • You will assist with the writing of reports and present your findings to colleagues.
  • You will assist in the training and development of other staff and students and interact with the wider Infection theme in the department of infection disease.

What we are looking for

  • You should have a master's degree (or awaiting award) in virology, microbiology or molecular biology.
  • Experience with molecular cloning techniques (PCR, transformation, etc.), molecular biology techniques (e.g., western blotting, co-immunoprecipitation), cell culture and virus infection.
  • Knowledge of virology and molecular biology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • You must have good time management skills, be strongly proactive and able to solve complex problems.

What we can offer you

  • The opportunity to further your career at a world-leading institution.
  • Access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources.
  • Sector-leading salary and remuneration package (including 39 days off a year)
