About the Role

The post holder will be joining the Centre for Preventive Neurology at the Wolfson Institute of Population Health, Queen Mary University of London. They will work within the Parkinson`s disease (PD) group, whose studies focus on the clinical, genetic and biomarker aspects in people with PD and at risk of PD.

The post holder will work on the Parkinson`s Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI study), and linked studies such as Smell Test Direct (ST Direct), both funded by the Michael J Fox Foundation. PPMI is a large-scale study creating an open-access data set and biosample library to accelerate scientific breakthroughs and treatments in PD.

About You

Candidates must be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant medical science discipline. The ideal candidate will have a background in clinical research and be familiar with good clinical practice and the regulatory requirements of clinical research. The ideal candidate should be experienced in processing biological samples and have a keen interest and enthusiasm to develop laboratory skills further. Experience in Parkinson’s disease or other neurodegenerative disorders would be desirable.

The post is based in Charterhouse Square. It is full time (35 hours per week), fixed term appointment for 12 months. The salary will be Grade 4 at £36,572 - £37,182 (depending on experience) per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
