We are looking for someone with an interest in research to join us as a Research Assistant in the Custom Research team within the Thomson Reuters Institute. This will be an entry-level role where you’ll be supporting more experienced colleagues in a small team to design and undertake impactful pieces of original market research on behalf of our law firm and professional services clients. You will also support in the analysis of qualitative and quantitative datasets and the production of reports. Our research services typically cover client feedback, brand perceptions, thought leadership and employee engagement and you will get hands-on experience across all these different types of projects and the main tasks carried out in the research team. This will give you a great basis for a career within Thomson Reuters either as a more senior researcher or in many of the other roles that the Thomson Reuters Institute can offer as you gain experience and develop your own personal brand.

This role is open to candidates from across the UK as we are willing to consider offering this position on the basis of up to 100% remote working.

About the role

In this opportunity as a Research Assistant , you will:

  • Assist team members in conducting original market research to generate qualitative and quantitative results
  • Design questionnaires and use specialist software to program web surveys
  • Diligently manage the contact details of research participants and ensure each participant’s status is kept up to date in Salesforce according to best-practice procedures
  • Schedule and carry out market research interviews with senior people in business via Teams, and write up reports of findings
  • Assist in the analysis of qualitative and quantitative datasets to identify trends
  • Create impactful PowerPoint presentations for our clients summarising market research results with a focus on formulating business-oriented and actionable recommendations
  • Build trusted relationships with our law firm and professional services clients by becoming a go-to expert contact over time
  • About You

    You’re a great fit for the role of Research Assistant if you meet the following criteria:

  • You have an undergraduate degree and an interest in all aspects of the research project lifecycle
  • You’re a convincing communicator (both written and spoken) who is confident using the phone and dealing with internal stakeholders (eg. team members/managers) and external stakeholders (eg. clients, research participants)
  • You have very strong attention to detail (including impeccable spelling & grammar)
  • You have an analytical mindset (including the ability to work with statistics and numerical datasets)
  • You’re able to work to a brief/follow instructions
  • You’re highly organised and able to manage your own workload, with supervision from more experienced colleagues when necessary
  • You’re trustworthy and responsible as you could be working from home up to 100% of the time
  • You have a willingness to learn and accept feedback from more experienced team members to grow and develop in the role; our ideal candidate will stay at Thomson Reuters long-term with a view to gaining valuable experience and achieving seniority
