Research Associate/ Fellow (Fixed term)

We are inviting applications for the post of Research Associate/Fellow to support an innovative study funded by Versus Arthritis developing ways to assess central nervous system contributions to pain that will accelerate musculoskeletal pain diagnosis and treatment.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary research team within . You will contribute to a range of research activities, which will include (but not limited to) contributing to ethical submissions, research protocol planning and co-production with research partners, collection of research data, and undertaking qualitative interviews with research participants. You should have experience in the use of research methodologies and techniques to work within the area of pain and musculoskeletal health and the ability to creatively apply relevant research approaches, models, techniques, and methods. 

Candidates must have PhD or equivalent in psychology, applied health research, social science or behavioural science or are near to completion of a PhD. Experience in qualitative methodology and analysis is essential, experience of pain assessments is also desirable. Key skills required include excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to build relationships and collaborate with others. 

You will join an established team led by Professor David Walsh, whose main area of research interests include musculoskeletal pain assessment, treatments, and mechanistic understanding.

This role is available on a fixed term basis until 30th June 2026. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours) ; however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 21.75 hours per week).
