Research Associate/ Fellow (Fixed term)

Applications are welcome for a post-doctoral researcher modelling and experimentation of bearings and bearing dynamics. The MAS group has a large intra-disciplinary team of researchers, engineers, technicians, support staff and academics who work together to deliver research from fundamental to high level TRL.

The MAS and faculty have an excellent international reputation for high quality theoretical and experimental research funded by EU, EPSRC, BEIS, Innovate-UK and directly with industry. The faculty is also dedicated to equality, diversity, and inclusion; it was awarded engineering department in the UK to be awarded an Athena Swan Gold award for advancing gender equality in higher education. The work will focus on model development, experimentation, and data analysis of bearing dynamics with a particular focus on aerospace applications. The role holder will be responsible for ensuring that programmes of work are carried out in a robust, well-managed, and well-documented manner. 

Candidates should hold or be close to completion on a PhD in relevant subject with a major component in modelling and dynamics. The ability to work in a team, lead both internally and externally, and interact/collaborate actively and professionally with industrial partners is essential. It is essential that the successful applicant is able to actively support knowledge exchange and transfer activities between industrial partners and the University of Nottingham.

This full-time (36.25 hours per week) post is available immediately and will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 24 months. Job share arrangements may be considered. 

Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.

Due to the nature of this post, all offers of employment will be subject to the appropriate level of security clearance and an independent verification of unspent convictions obtained by means of a Basic Disclosure Certificate obtained from Disclosure Scotland, or an overseas police check.
