Role : Research Associate in Catchment Science Department: School of Geography and Environmental Science Grade: 6/7 (£31,414 - £40,543 per annum) Responsible to: Principal Investigator Campus: Coleraine (Fixed-Term until 31st August 2027 / Full-Time) Job Purpose : Ulster University is working with fourteen institutions in three jurisdictions on the large-scale Co-Centre for Climate + Biodiversity + Water project. The project is jointly funded by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Development in Northern Ireland, Science Foundation Ireland, and UK Research and Innovation. The post holder will develop research and knowledge exchange as part of a Monitoring and Modelling Platform in the Co-Centre, to review and develop water quality monitoring protocols for the Lough Neagh rivers following the catastrophic cyanobacterial bloom of 2023. The researcher will consider new approaches for nutrient/pollution load estimation and the data generated will be crucial for developing Northern Ireland’s strategies for managing water quality and especially related to Lough Neagh. The School of Geography & Environmental Sciences holds a Bronze Athena SWAN Award in recognition of our commitment to advancing Gender equality.
