The Schoolof Health Professions is looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivateddietetics Academic Lead to join the Dietetics team as an Associate Professor orLecturer in Dietetics

Main duties of the job

Youwill:

Support teaching and learning inthe programmes BSc (Hons) Dietetics, MDiet (Hons) Dietetics and MSc HumanNutrition at the University of Plymouth.

Promote academic quality and highstandards of learning and teaching to support evidence-based dietetic practice.

Also have a role in building andsustaining successful partnerships with colleagues across the South West todevelop and support practice placement education and future developments.

Dependingon the grade appointed you will:

Have leadership responsibilityincluding line management. Be a graduate Dietitian with considerablepost-qualifying experience.

Job responsibilities

Lecturer:

To undertakeresearch, professional activities and teaching in line with University/Schoolsstrategy and to carry out leadership, management and engagement activities.

Associate Professor:

To undertake research in line with Faculty/School research strategy, todeliver high quality research-led and professionally relevant teaching atundergraduate and postgraduate level and to undertake leadership, managementand engagement activities.

All activitiesundertaken within these roles will be compliant with the Universitys policies,including Health & Safety, Equality and Diversity, Ethics, Data Protectionetc.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Lecturer:
  • PhD or equivalent international qualification or chartered professional membership directly associated with research impact or commensurate level of recognition/international profile in a relevant discipline.
  • In depth knowledge of a specific discipline sufficient to enable innovation and new understanding in the field.
  • Recognised HE teaching qualification or appropriate HEA fellowship/the ability to gain this within 2 years from the date of appointment.
  • Graduate or post graduate qualification directly associated with the built environment.
  • Associate Professor:
  • Knowledge, Education and Training:
  • PhD or equivalent international qualification or commensurate level of recognition/international profile in a relevant discipline.
  • In depth knowledge of a specific discipline sufficient to enable innovation and new understanding in the field.
  • Excellent working knowledge of institutional management systems and relevant legislation.
  • Recognised HE teaching qualification or appropriate HEA fellowship the ability to gain this within a defined timescale, usually within 2 years from the date of appointment.

  • Experience of delivering high quality research led teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Ability to demonstrate enhancement to the learning experience through flexible delivery, and pedagogic innovation including the use of digital media, as appropriate to meet the diverse needs of students including the ongoing development of placements.
  • Associate Professor:
  • Leading and directing large-scale educational activity, including strategies and policies or curriculum design including placement innovations.
  • Successful track record of high quality teaching and learning support (including personal tutoring).
  • Strong track record of enhancing the learning experience through flexible delivery, and pedagogic innovation including the use of digital media, as appropriate to the diverse student needs.
  • Track record of successful curriculum development within a discipline, taking responsibility for the quality of courses and learning programmes.
  • Has developed, or has clear plans to develop, impact within area of research.
  • Sustained track record of excellent research supervision and/or research mentorship.
  • Successful or growing national or international leadership of teaching and learning initiatives.
  • Provided significant professional advice, support or mentoring in education for students and/or staff.

  • Able to demonstrate the delivery of high quality research outputs at the appropriate quality level for the discipline and has developed, or has clear plans to develop, impact within area of research.
