With permanent fully staffed offices in 17 countries, our 850 specialist consultants and researchers advise government departments, regulators, charities, and other public sector bodies to make the right decisions and improve people’s lives.Due to business growth, we are looking for a Research Director with expertise in online experiments to join our Behavioural and Communications Practice. In this role, you will help us develop quantitative aspects of our market-leading behavioural offer; design and supervise the delivery of online experiments, ensuring high quality is maintained at all project stages; and help develop and manage a talented and expanding team of researchers.The Behavioural and Communications Practice brings together varied expertise, including behavioural economics and cognitive and social psychology, qualitative and quantitative research methods, creative and design, advanced data analytics, communications consultancy and capability building. The team takes on a wide range of projects for clients across Government and the wider public sector, tackling issues from environmental behaviours to public health and misinformation to domestic abuse. We advise clients on the opportunities for behaviour change at all stages in the policy cycle; provide insight into what influences individual and organisational behaviours; design communications, interventions and strategies for driving change; and trial and evaluate campaigns and interventions. Our work is always interesting; it often involves sensitive issues and it makes a real difference to the world we live in.Key ResponsibilitiesLeading and supporting project teams, acting as key contact for clients, overseeing internet experiments, being accountable for timings and budgets, maintaining quality in analysis and reportingParticipating in new business activities – leading proposals and pitches, developing new client relationships, planning and contributing to profile-raising activitiesContributing to team planning and strategy, and skills and capability developmentWorking with other experts to develop our offer by drawing on advanced knowledge and skills, creating new solutions, and training the teamUpskilling junior team members, supporting their learning and development around designing, analysing, and writing up experimentsLine managing one or more individuals, and supporting their work and developmentYour ProfileProven expertise in online experiments, ideally in the context of behavioural science and intervention development and testingProven project oversight experience, with an ability to lead a research team to deliver excellent work to time and budgetStakeholder management skills, with the ability to handle our clients; you will enjoy advising clients and helping to solve their problemsStrong writing skills, including the ability to write literature reviews, to explain technical concepts clearly to non-specialists, and to produce convincing proposals on tight timelinesAptitude for innovative project design and the commercial skill to apply this to developing new opportunities for workWhat we offerJoining Verian means becoming part of a dynamic and collaborative community that thrives on intellectual curiosity and a shared commitment to making a difference.
