Job summary

We are currently recruiting a Research Manager to join our Team.

You will take a lead in managing the research portfolio on behalf of Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust (OHFT). Develop strategies and models to support the efficient set up and management of research studies across OHFT in line with National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) guidelines, metrics and national policies. You will actively engage as appropriate across all OHFT services, Oxford University, other NHS trusts (such as Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) and research networks such as the NIHR Clinical Research Network: Thames Valley and South Midlands (CRN: TV&SM). Supporting the active development and use of Studyline (a research management system) you will play a key role in shaping research policy and procedures to facilitate delivery against internal and external metrics.

In addition, you will be responsible for coordinating the reporting of activity and metrics to various committees within the Trust and wider research community.

A comprehensive understanding of the research lifecycle and associated regulatory frameworks is required.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role include the following

To efficiently manage the procedures involved in the set up and delivery of the pipeline process for gaining approval to conduct research studies within the Trust (confirmation of capacity and capability, contract signature, Research Passports, Letters of Access, Amendments, etc)

To fully comprehend the regulatory and ethical requirements for the conduct of clinical research, especially the Research Governance Framework, Good Clinical Practice, and related guidance, in order to ensure delivery of authoritative advice to investigators and continued compliance with regulations and governance

To work in accordance with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)

Providing guidance and support to researchers to determine which approvals are needed for studies

Perform sponsorship reviews of IRAS applications and associated documents for new studies and amendments.

To manage the data collection for R&D Reporting and compliance including Studyline and Siteline

To manage, lead and develop staff, and ensure all mandatory training and appraisals are carried out in line with OHFT requirements

To assist in the development of protocols, participant information sheets, consent forms and other essential documents where required

    Knowledge Requirements

    Essential

  • Experience of reviewing sponsorship applications
  • Experience of setting up clinical research in a healthcare setting preferably but not necessarily mental health
  • Knowledge of obligatory regulations and legal requirements of NHS research, and study life-cycles
  • Ability to plan, manage and deliver complex projects, involving multiple agencies and individuals and a range of tasks
  • Desirable

  • Experience of managing staff and budgets

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
