Department of Social Policy and Intervention, 32 Wellington Square, Oxford, OX1 2ER About the role The Department of Social Policy and Intervention wishes to appoint a full-time Senior Departmental Lecturer in Evidence-Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation (EBSIPE). We are searching for an experienced candidate with a particular focus on methods for policy/intervention evaluation with an area of substantive expertise related to policies or interventions for health, education, wellbeing, or other social welfare outcomes. The Senior Departmental Lecturer will primarily be involved in the delivery of teaching, supervision and examining on MSc and MPhil courses in EBSIPE, working with high achieving students from diverse backgrounds. They will also have the opportunity to lead independent research projects or specific areas of research within a broad programme with support from the Department. About you You will hold a doctorate relevant to EBSIPE (e.g. public health, sociology, international development, education, social work, psychology, prevention science), with a strong publication record and specialist knowledge in your field. You will have an aptitude for teaching and awareness of pedagogic methods in policy/intervention evaluation with a focus on qualitative or mixed methods. You will also have prior experience in research or teaching in one or more of these areas: process evaluation, process tracing, qualitative comparative analysis, mixed methods research for studying causal mechanisms intervention or policy development, qualitative research synthesis, formative research, participatory or youth-led methods, community analysis, case study methods, thematic or framework analyses, grounded theory, life history methods, phenomenology. Able to work well as part of a team, you will have experience of qualitative or mixed methods research and analytical techniques. Experience working with communities and stakeholders to design and conduct research and evaluation would also be desirable. This is a fixed-term post for two years.
