Senior Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic colleague with expertise in pharmacy practice to join our team and contribute to teaching of undergraduate and foundation programmes run by the Department of Pharmacy. As part of this one year fixed term 1fte position, you will plan, develop and deliver high quality and innovative teaching and assessments in collaboration with a team of academics to deliver a vibrant education to our students that can be translated into real-world skills. The appointed candidate will also help support our growing experiential and simulated learning program. The role will require some administrative responsibilities.

The Person

You must have an MPharm degree or equivalent and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council or General Medical Council with few years recent experience within one or multiple sectors of UK pharmacy or medical practice. Teaching experience or qualification is desirable. The candidate needs to be able to engage with a diverse range of students to motivate and inspire them to perform at their best and be able to work within a team with other staff and colleagues in the School and Faculty.

Applicants will be required to demonstrate that they meet the Kingston University standards in learning and teaching, and research. By the end of the probation period, you must have achieved the relevant level of UKPSF recognition (if this has not already been obtained). For those new to teaching, this will be through our accredited Introduction to Learning and Teaching and for those experienced in teaching, through our Kingston Academic Practice Standards Framework.

We have invested heavily in the development of new facilities, with our laboratories providing access to ultra-modern equipment and teaching facilities in areas such as biochemistry, biotechnology, cell and molecular biology, immunology, microbiology, nutrition, pharmacology, sport science (including biomechanics and an environmental testing chamber), chemical synthesis and analysis, pharmaceutics, specialist labs for pharmacy practice, pharmaceutical science and chemistry, a forensic scene-of-crime house and a pharmacy dispensing simulation suite.
