The Role

Responsible for: Leading a team of lecturers in the delivery of our tech degree apprenticeships, and designing and delivering a set of modules in one of either:

  • Data Analytics and Cyber Security
  • Technology Business and Enterprise (including emerging technologies, IT consultancy, risk and innovation).

Salary: £56,000 - £62,000 dependent on relevant experience.

Location and travel: the post holder will be based at our Manchester campus in Ancoats, on site on average three days per week. Some overnight travel to London will be required, for which travel and accommodation will be covered.

Start date: January 2025, or as soon as possible after that.

We are at an exciting time in the development of Ada in the North West. We have recently moved into a new campus. Following the retirement of one of our team members, a rare opportunity has opened up for the right individual.

We are looking for a Senior Lecturer and Regional Head of Faulty to lead our degree apprenticeship teaching team in the region. You’ll join and lead a dedicated team in the region and work closely with your London-based counterpart as part of our national academic team, training apprentices with a wide range of employers such as PwC, Booking.com, Deloitte, HPE, Bank of America and HSBC.

This is a unique opportunity to take a leadership role in a growing team, and influence our degree apprenticeship programme as it goes from strength to strength.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Line-manage a small team of lecturers in Manchester, driving forward high quality teaching through coaching and support for ongoing development, managing team resource and capacity effectively in collaboration with your London counterpart and the Director of Degree Apprenticeships.
  • Design and deliver modules in your specialism area, deploying both face to face and remote delivery, and ensuring teaching style and learning materials are differentiated for a range of abilities and prior experience.
  • Oversee module delivery for team members and consultant lecturers, ensuring modules are delivered to a high standard by adhering to quality assurance  and moderation processes.
  • Create and mark assignments and exams, using a range of up-to-date assessment methods and provide feedback to apprentices on their progress and provide additional support where necessary.
  • Work collaboratively to ensure that individualised support programmes are in place for learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Supervise a caseload of dissertations for final-year apprentices.
  • Ensure the content you are teaching aligns to the Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours of the relevant apprenticeships you are teaching on.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Engage in the design and delivery of other Ada projects as required.

The Person

Essential:

  • Substantial experience teaching in one of the desired subject areas at level 4-6 (degree level)
  • Experience of effective assessment design, ideally in an HE environment
  • Experience overseeing high-quality programme delivery, including supporting teachers and/or lecturers in their professional development
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and an understanding of effective quality assurance processes in an HE environment

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a validated degree programme environment
  • Post-graduate qualification in a technical subject or equivalent experience
