Position Summary

Meridian Bioscience is seeking a Senior Research Assistant to join the R&D team at our site in London, UK. The Sr Research Assistant will provide support to the new molecular product development efforts of the R&D team by performing routine laboratory work and experimental work of various projects. This role is laboratory based, with the successful candidate reporting directly to the R&D Manager.


Major Duties and Responsibilities for this role:

Execute experimental work in agreement with the project leader

• Provide technical support on a variety of scientific projects

• Preparation of buffers and R&D reagents

• Follow internal SOP

• Contribute towards general documentation and products literature

• Keep accurate laboratory records

• Work to ISO13485 standards and understand their requirements

• Participation in R&D meetings

• Participation to routine tidiness of the laboratory


Qualifications

MSc or equivalent experience in a Life Science or related discipline

Experience in an active research laboratory or equivalent industrial environment


Competencies Required:

Experience in molecular biology technologies (e.g. end-point PCR, real-time PCR, LAMP, NGS), including assay design and interpretation of data

Problem-solving skills and ability to adapt quickly to changes in project requirements

Highly organised and self-motivated individual with good attention to detail


Desirable:

Experience in protein chemistry (protein expression and purification, enzyme activity)

Experience in assay development and optimization

Experience of working within ISO13485 standards

Knowledge and experience with lyophilization processes
