The Job

WB Games is looking for a detail-oriented User Research Assistant who has an intense passion for gaming and the science around conducting research. As a User Research Assistant you will moderate groups (4 – 20 participants) through test sessions on console, PC, and mobile products where data is collected on our games. During this 9-month contract position you will perform on-site research studies in Knutsford, UK and observe participant behavior and communicate that information back to the research team. You will receive training for many of the necessary skills, however knowledge of research practices with people is critical.

The Daily

  • Prepare and execute research studies.
  • Support lead researchers in all tasks including the setup of labs and procedures
  • Administer each playtest in a non-biased manner
  • Regularly submit notes/observations for each test
  • Recruit the necessary amount and participant profile for each study
  • Develop and evolve the playtest recruitment database
  • Maintain the inventory of gratuities (games and gift cards) forecasting when new stock is needed
  • Special projects on occasion (Data entry, Recruiting events, Game teardowns, etc.)
  • The Essentials

  • Pursuit or completion of a relevant college degree (branches of experimental psychology, human computer interaction, human factors, or related field).
  • Comfortable speaking in front of groups with authority.
  • Experience moderating large groups effectively without supervision
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of research design, qualitative, and quantitative methodologies.
  • Familiar with game design theory and development process for video games.
  • Able to adapt and learn quickly when faced with a large variety of problems.
  • Research experience with children combined with early childhood development emphasis is a plus.
  • Genuinely enjoy gaming in all forms!
  • Hybrid Working - This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, that combines remote and in-office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
