About your role
As a PhD candidate, you will conduct research within the CATALYST project under the supervision of Joeri Tijdink. You will contribute to both the scientific and practical goals of the consortium and collaborate closely with European partners.
Your work includes:
- mapping and evaluating interventions that may strengthen reproducibility culture within research departments;
- developing and applying tools to measure reproducibility practices within research groups;
- implementing and evaluating departmental interventions aimed at cultural change;
- collaborating with international project partners and participating in meetings, workshops, and conferences;
- writing scientific publications and contributing to project deliverables.

About youWe are looking for a curious and motivated researcher who enjoys interdisciplinary collaboration and wants to contribute to improving scientific practice.
You have:
- a completed master’s degree in a relevant field, such as health sciences, psychology, science studies, medicine, or a related discipline;
- demonstrable affinity with open science, reproducible research, or research integrity;
- experience with, or willingness to work with, both quantitative and qualitative research methods;
- strong communication skills and an excellent command of English, both written and spoken;
- an independent, proactive, and reflective working style.
While the working language of the project is English, candidates with some Dutch language skills are preferred.
Our offer- You will be employed by Amsterdam UMC Research BV.
- A contract for 12 months, with the intention to extend for a total of 3,5 years. The Guideline PhD contract applies to this vacancy.
- Classification in salary scale OIO: € 3.108 to € 3.939 gross, if you hold a master’s degree in medicine, salary scale 10: € 3.598 to € 5.669. for full-time employment (depending on experience). In addition to a good basic salary, we offer 8.3% end-of-year bonus. Calculate your net salary here. As of 1 July 2026, the salary will be increased by 3.5% in accordance with the collective labor agreement (CAO UMC).
- Holiday hours: 194.4 per year for full time and a possibility to save additional hours.
- 100% reimbursement for public transport travel costs. If you travel by foot, bicycle, or car, a mileage allowance of €0.21 per km applies (up to a maximum of 40 km one way by car).
