We are looking for a dedicated, proactive, and detail‑oriented Administrative Staff member to provide essential administrative support to the Advanced LLM in International Tax Law. In this varied and dynamic role, you will form an integral part of the programme team, working closely with the Programme Director, the Academic Coordinator, and the Course Coordinators to ensure that all academic and organisational activities run efficiently and to a high standard.
You will be a central point of contact for students, alumni, prospective applicants, and external partners, and you will contribute meaningfully to the continued success, reputation, and international visibility of the programme.

The role combines administrative responsibilities with student‑facing tasks, event organisation, and marketing‑related activities, making it both varied and rewarding.
What you will do
- Provide administrative support to the Programme Director, Academic Coordinator, and Course Coordinators, including assistance with scheduling, course logistics, and the overall smooth running of the programme throughout the academic year.
- Act as a main point of contact for students, alumni, and prospective applicants by responding to enquiries in a timely and professional manner and ensuring a welcoming, supportive, and solution‑oriented experience.
- Monitor the central Tax LLM mailbox, handling admissions enquiries, follow‑up correspondence, one‑course students’ registration and content questions, and alumni enquiries, while redirecting complex matters to the appropriate colleagues when necessary.
- Organise social events and student activities that strengthen the sense of community within the programme and contribute to the lifelong professional network of the Adv. LLM alumni community.
- Coordinate the annual Graduation Ceremony, including logistical planning, liaison with venues and suppliers, preparation of materials and communications, and ensuring that the event reflects the international character and prestige of the programme.
- Contribute to marketing and promotional activities, including support for recruitment events, campaigns, and online communications aimed at strengthening the global visibility and reputation of the Adv. LLM in International Tax Law.
What we ask
We are looking for a candidate who combines strong organisational skills with excellent interpersonal abilities. You are proactive, reliable, and able to work independently, while also thriving in a close‑knit team. You have a service‑oriented mindset, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy international academic environment.
Experience in academic administration, student services, or a comparable role is highly appreciated, as is familiarity with higher education processes. Excellent written and spoken English is essential due to the fully international character of the programme. Knowledge of Dutch is an advantage. Affinity with law, tax, or international education is considered a plus.
What we offer
We offer a temporary employment contract for a period of one year, with a two-month probation period. The position is for 7.6 hours per week. The UFO profile of Student Assistant applies.
The gross monthly salary ranges between €3,084 and €3,141, based on a 38-hour work week (scale SA, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities – CAO Nederlandse Universiteiten). The University of Amsterdam offers an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus. The CAO for Dutch Universities applies.The CAO Nederlandse Universiteiten applies.
