Prof. André Nollkaemper, University Professor of International Law and Sustainability and Academic Director of SEVEN (UvA's climate change institute), is looking for an enthusiastic student assistant in the field of international law to support his research projects and provide organisational support for research initiatives .
What you will do
- Support Prof. Nollkaemper's research and legal advisory work (literature reviews, case-law analysis, and drafting research memos)
- Support Prof. Nollkaemper's work for the Institut de Droit International on international food law
- Provide administrative and organisational support for research projects, including arranging meetings
What we ask from you
- A student in the Master's track in Public International Law, or in another programme but with a strong knowledge of and interest in international law
- Interested in international legal questions relating to sustainability (welcome, though not required)
- Able to demonstrate research experience working with international law materials
- A clear communicator in English; knowledge of Dutch is a welcome addition
- Able to work independently
- Accurate and detail-oriented
- Availabile during (part of) the summer of 2026 and first semester of 2026-2027
What we offer
We are offering a challenging and diverse position in an ambitious environment. The position is temporary for the duration of a year, with a two-month probation period. The position can start as soon as possible (June/July). Availability during (part of) the summer is a plus. Minimum 8 hours per week, up to 16 hours possible. The gross monthly salary ranges between €3.084 and €3.141, based on a 38-hour work week (scale SA, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities – CAO Nederlandse Universiteiten). The University of Amsterdam offers an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus. The CAO for Dutch Universities applies. The CAO Nederlandse Universiteiten applies.
