  • This role will provide you with the opportunity to join the collaborative and supportive teaching team on the Certificate of Higher Education programmes. Your main responsibility will be preparation, teaching, administration, and assessment for the Understanding Applied Cognitive Psychology module, which is a Level 4 module offered as part of our Certificate of Higher Education and Accelerated Foundation Year programmes.

    The module offers an introduction to cognitive psychology, and the major elements of cognition (attention, perception and memory) that will serve as the foundation for more detailed exploration of these topic later in their degree.

    The module is delivered on Thursday evening, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm, for 11 weeks from October 2023 to December 2023.

    In addition to the criteria specified in the job pack, the minimum requirements for selection are listed below:

  • A degree in Psychology.
  • Relevant teaching experience, working with adult students within the HE sector.
  • A good understanding of the needs of part-time adult learners and be able to relate well to their individual needs and engage their interest and enthusiasm.
  • Experience of (or willingness to develop) a wide range of teaching and assessment methods. 
  • Demonstrably effective communication, interpersonal and presentation skills across a range of relevant contexts.
  • A working knowledge of IT including Word, Excel, e-mail and experience of (or willingness to use) Moodle.
  • Particularly able to work both as part of a team and independently as appropriate.
  • Willing to engage in reflective practice.
  • Please note: candidates need to demonstrate competence or significant potential in all areas.

    Desirable:

  • Postgraduate degree/s in a relevant area
  • A teaching qualification
  • The successful candidate will be required to teach all sessions on the module.
