ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (Adult) with community and/or social care nursing experience,  to join our successful and highly committed teams delivering high quality education to the nursing and healthcare workforce, both pre and post qualifying. Previous experience of teaching and leading is highly desirable and your application should detail your areas of clinical/teaching experience and expertise. Experience as a community nurse is essential and experience in social care nursing is also desirable. Possession of a V300 non-medical prescribing qualification and an Advanced Clinical Practice qualification would also be an advantage.

The Department provides high quality, research-rich education using a variety of innovative teaching and learning methods delivered at all academic levels from undergraduate to doctoral study. You will be expected to facilitate teaching, learning, and assessment, and engage in student support for our pre-registration programmes and other relevant post-registration programmes. For the Lecturer/Assistant Professor posts you will be required to build your own portfolio of research with the resources available within the Department and wider University.

For the Assistant Professor (Practice) post, we are looking for an individual with expert, contemporary practice knowledge, committed to leadership, teaching and scholarship to advance healthcare practice in this area; and for the Lecturer/Assistant Professor posts, a commitment to delivering high quality research is also required.

Colleagues appointed into our Lecturer grade are usually early career academics who are supported through their probationary period to develop their Academic profile. Upon completion of probation objectives these colleagues are automatically moved into the Assistant Professor role. The selection panel will assess your application and discuss with you which role you are being considered for at selection and appointment stages.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 therefore the successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

The Department of Nursing, Midwifery and Health is one of five departments within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.   • We provide high quality, research-rich education using a variety of innovative teaching and learning methods including a state-of-the-art clinical skills centre. The post holder will work flexibly with the team to contribute to teaching, learning, assessment, and scholarship/research. They will participate in supervision, planning, designing and development of undergraduate and postgraduate health programmes in their relevant discipline. They will provide expertise to further enhance scholarship, research and entrepreneurial activities. This will include undertaking individual and collaborative scholarship/ research that demonstrates impact and involvement in external activities which will include academic enterprise.

    ABOUT YOU

    Applicants for the Lecturer/Assistant Professor role should hold a doctoral qualification and have demonstrable specialist expert knowledge and subject expertise in a relevant subject discipline.

    Experience of designing, delivering, assessing, and evaluating high quality teaching and learning practice as well as evidence of high-quality research outputs are essential.

    Applicants for the Assistant Professor (Practice) role should hold a Master's degree in a relevant subject and professional qualification or substantial professional experience in the discipline. You must also be able to demonstrate contemporary expert specialist knowledge and subject expertise within the relevant discipline/practice areas ensuring that the curriculum reflects the latest developments within practice.

    Experience of designing, delivering, assessing, and evaluating high quality teaching and learning practice as well as evidence of contributions to the development of contemporary practice are essential.
