The role

The University Bristol is ranked 54th in the world in the 2025 QS World University Rankings and enjoys strong student recruitment and our graduates are among the most sought-after by employers across the globe. We are seeking to appoint a fractional Lecturer in Film and Television Post-Production with professional experience as an Editor, Colourist, Compositor or other comparable role in VFX. The appointee will contribute to the Department of Film and Television’s excellence in the delivery of creative approaches to post- production and practical skill alongside their continued work and success in the screen industry.

The successful candidate will build on and maintain a successful career in the screen industries. To facilitate your ongoing success in the screen industries, this post is offered up to 80% full-time equivalent. However, lower fractions to accommodate a greater share of work in industry alongside this post can be agreed.


What will you be doing?

You will be committed to excellence and the role of Higher Education in developing creativity and graduate successes and make a distinctive contribution to the design and delivery of our undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in film and television.

Your teaching will be informed by a track record of significant critical and commercial success in post-production in either television or film. 

You will draw on strong connections and networks in the film or television industry in building new collaborations between the university and screen industry partners. At Senior Lecturer level you will also have significant experience in team leadership, collaboration with other creatives and in fostering creative talent.

The ideal candidate will also be an enthusiastic and committed educator. You will be able to develop technical and creative skills in others and support students in developing key skills including creative problem solving in screen media. 

You will be committed to maintaining an outstanding career in either television or film alongside your academic appointment.
