Publicerad 2024-09-17

Guildhall School of Music and Drama is a world-leading specialist Performing Arts conservatoire, investing in the artists of today and tomorrow. The School is a vibrant, international community of actors, musicians and production artists in the heart of the City of London. Ranked as one of the top conservatoires for Drama and Music in the Guardian league tables and QS World University rankings, the School is a global leader of creative and professional practice, promoting expertise, innovation and research, with over 1,000 students in higher education drawn from nearly 60 countries around the world.

We are seeking an outstanding individual to take up the post of Lecturer in Video & Visual Media.

You will be responsible for teaching video and visual media design and production, across projects and activities that include video for theatre and opera, video for immersive events, installations, concerts and other settings; screen drama; and AR/VR/XR work. You will teach design processes, content creation, workflow models, and production realisation (including specification and fit-up of projection and display systems as relevant). You will supervise students undertaking production and project work, and overseeing safe working practices. You will have extensive industry experience that demonstrates continued high standing in the profession. You will also contribute to wider teaching, tutoring and assessment activities in the department. You will have experience of working in higher education settings; a good understanding of the needs of students in a complex learning environment; and the ability to represent your discipline in the public domain through professional/industry sector engagement, consultancy, and/or research (which could include R&D in new processes and equipment).

The Video & Visual Media Lecturer works predominantly on the BA Digital Design & Production programme and on the Theatre Technology pathway of the BA Production Arts programme, and has a close working liaison with Guildhall Production Studio, which produces a range of digitally-driven work at the School and in external settings with industry partners and clients. Our students learn through studio-based and workshop-based activities, study and intensive production and practice. They have opportunities to extend their knowledge by working on pathways other than their major area of study, and to develop their own interests and creative agency through independent projects. The Department is values-led and promotes diversity and inclusivity along with sustainable practices.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing teaching in your area of specialism. You will be organised, able to meet deadlines and manage your own workload. You will have up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety and a commitment to promoting safe working and inclusive practices.
