Public services lecturer – the role:
Start: as soon as possible Permanent contract Full-time – 36 hours per week Teach on a range of Foundation level to Level 3 courses in Public Services and some sports courses Assist the Curriculum and Quality Team Manager in the development of student-centred teaching/learning strategies and deliver high quality teaching and learning Advise and assist the Curriculum and Quality Team Manager about course development and modification Negotiate targets for performance with the Curriculum and Quality Team Manager and ensure that agreed action is taken to ensure continuing improvement to the quality of the provision Liaise with other lecturers and other appropriate staff regarding matters of assessment, student progress, work placements and other organisational matters Ensure that reports relating to students’ progress are prepared for employers, parents, students or sponsors as appropriate Report to and consult with the Curriculum and Quality Team Manager to ensure that agreed practices are consistently followed, particularly in respect of all review, evaluation and planning activities, including team meetings Prepare students’ references for employment, Further and Higher Education Ensure students are entered for appropriate examinations and assessments Arrange for students to receive advice regarding careers and further educational opportunities from Careers Advisory staff Act as a course team leader for a designated level from foundation level through to level 3, ensuring quality standards are met Organise and take students on trips and visits, including residential weekends Support the curriculum quality team manager in the implementation of attendance strategies
Candidate specification – what the college are looking for:
UK QTS NQTs are welcome to apply Possess a qualification relevant to the Public Service curriculum areas Have relevant experience in teaching Public Services, or a related area Ideally have some relevant work experience in the forces or emergency services Show commitment to and be able to provide evidence of continuous professional development and demonstrate its impact on teaching and learning Possess appropriate IT skills relevant to the post, or be willing to undertake training Have a teaching qualification or be willing to obtain one within an agreed timescale Possess literacy and numeracy qualifications at least at Level 2 Possess the Training, Assessment & Quality Assurance (TAQA) qualifications for assessors and verifiers or be committed to attaining these awards Experience of organising trips and visits Possess good communication skills Be able to work to deadlines Be able to work as part of a team Have an awareness and understanding of equal opportunities Have an awareness and understanding of Safeguarding, Prevent and how to embed these into the curriculum i-teachers are different from almost all other agencies as we do not cater for day-to-day supply.
