Research Assistant/ Associate (Fixed Term): Spectral Upconverters for Photovoltaic Devices

Publicerad 2024-09-06

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 6 months only.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) to join the Photoactive Materials Group led by Prof Rachel Evans in the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy at the University of Cambridge. The project will involve the development of spectral conversion materials to enhance the performance of solar cells in non-conventional environments. The expected start date is the 30th September 2024.

The project will involve the fabrication and spectroscopic analysis of spectral conversion materials designed to upconvert solar radiation. Emphasis will be placed on understanding light transport processes, particularly upon integration with solar cells.

The successful candidate will have completed, or be close to achieving, an experimental PhD in a relevant branch of chemistry. It is essential that applicants can demonstrate expertise in sol-gel fabrication methods and spectroscopic characterisation of triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion using steady-state and time-resolved techniques. Evidence of successful experience in multidisciplinary research, project delivery, and excellent communication ability to diverse audiences is a key requisite.

Successful candidates who have not been awarded their PhD by the appointment date will be appointed as a Research Assistant at Grade 5 (£29,605-£33,966 per annum). Upon award of the PhD the individual will be promoted to Research Associate, Grade 7 (£36,024-£44,263 per annum).

The University actively supports equality, diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from all sections of society.

The University has a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.
