About the Role

We are recruiting a highly motivated Research Assistant / Associate with an enthusiastic interest on the role of non-coding RNAs in cancer to join 's laboratory based at the at Nottingham Trent University.

The project aims to unravel the mechanistic role of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in pancreatic cancer progression.

The role will involve culture of cancer cell lines in 2D, development of 3D and co-culture models and generation of stable cell lines for overexpression / knockdown of candidate lncRNAs. Cancer assays will be carried out including cell proliferation, cell motility, cell invasion and stemness. You will perform standard molecular biology techniques including qRT-PCR, western blotting and RNA ISH. You will be involved in work on single-cell RNA-sequencing and spatial transcriptomics, using state-of-the-art facilities housed at the Cancer Research Centre.

You will be experienced in standard molecular biology techniques with a strong cancer biology background and ideally knowledge of RNA biology and RNA functional assays.

You will join our small research team which is part of the non-coding RNAs and epigenetic in cancer research area at the .

About Us

The School of Science and Technology at Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is an exciting multidisciplinary environment for learning, teaching and research, with some of the best facilities in the UK.

We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality teaching and diverse, real-world research. We specialise in biosciences, chemistry, computing and technology, as well as engineering, forensic science, mathematics, physics and sport science. This mix of traditional and modern subjects encourages and inspires future innovators.

The is a unique, purpose-built scientific facility in the East Midlands focusing on cancer research into diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. The Centre has a strong research base that investigates disease processes with regards to cancer’s molecular heterogeneity, the architecture of the tumour microenvironment and the identification of biomarkers associated with therapeutic success and failure. The Centre aligns with the strategic theme at NTU and the Centre for Systems, Health and integrated Metabolic Research and sits in the
