Research Assistant
About the role
Applications are invited for a research assistant position in the Imagine Reality Lab ( at University College London. The project is part of a larger adversarial collaboration funded by the Templeton World Charity Foundation (TWCF) entitled “Empirical Tests of Higher-Order theories of consciousnesS (ETHOS: The project will use psychophysics, MEG and decoding methods to investigate how the brain distinguishes reality and imagination. The goal is to obtain empirical evidence to arbitrate between different higher-order theories of consciousness.
The post holder will assist with all aspects of conducting high quality research by combining novel behavioural and neuroimaging experiments on human participants with advanced data-analysis techniques. The role will involve working closely with Dr. Nadine Dijkstra to collect, curate and analyse human subject’s data, and ensure the efficient running of all aspects of the project.

About you
Applicants must hold a First-class honours degree and/or Masters in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, cognitive science or related discipline. We are seeking applicants with prior experience with creating/adjusting experimental code ( in MATLAB’s Psychtoolbox), data analysis in MATLAB/Python, proficiency and prior experience working with human participants in a clinical or research setting, and with the enthusiasm and aptitude for developing technical skills in MEG data collection and (multivariate decoding) analyses. A strong interest in the theoretical and empirical underpinnings of reality monitoring and consciousness science is essential.
