A Biotech, using ML to study human cells, is looking for a Senior Research Engineer. They are pioneering an approach that combines large-scale ML and high-resolution biology to discover new drugs.
In this role you’ll play a pivotal role in building ML solutions for genetic data interpretation. You'll tackle challenges presented by large models and vast datasets and use your expertise to enhance data loaders, streamline training and inference regimes, and refine the software architecture.
Responsibilities:
- Work across complex challenges in data engineering, ML engineering, and software engineering
- Architect and enhance data processing systems to support training and inference for LLMs up to billions of parameters
- Develop and maintain research and production code bases, enabling rapid experimentation and efficient analysis
- Lead initiatives to scale capabilities for distributed training and enhance software architecture for high-velocity research
Experience needed:
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field, with 4+ years industry experience
- Python and Pytorch skills, with a solid grasp of data structures and computational complexity
- Skills in at least two of the following areas:
- data engineering (e.g., handling billion-row data frames and databases),
- ml engineering (e.g., distributed training, optimization, compilation)
- software engineering (e.g., OOP, system design, CI/CD and testing)
- Comfort with industry-standard cloud infrastructures
