Senior Research Associate in Public Health Evaluation
The role
We are seeking to appoint a talented public health or applied health researcher with an interest in the quantitative evaluation of interventions. You will be involved in a multi-disciplinary team from the Universities of Bristol and Liverpool John Moores University, who are conducting a feasibility study for the evaluation of a specialist multi-agency team embedded in neighbourhoods to support children, young people and their families at risk of experiencing violence or criminal exploitation outside the home. If an evaluation will be feasible there will be the opportunity for a full evaluation programme and continue the project beyond the current funding period. You will contribute to developing the quantitative evaluation together with a Research Fellow, who leads this. This will include discussing requirements and availability of quantitative data with the research team, evaluation partners and delivery sites, and use this to develop different evaluation design options and their benefits and limitations. You will also contribute to the qualitative elements of the project, which include contributing and leading on focus groups and interviews. The position will be particularly suited if you consider yourself a mixed methods researcher with a focus on quantitative research methodology.
What will you be doing?
You will collaborate with colleagues at the Universities of Bristol and Liverpool John Moores University, and collaborators from the funder, local councils and other stakeholders to develop high quality quantitative evaluation science research. You will contribute to on designing a large evaluation programme and develop protocols therein. You will further contribute to focus groups and interviews.
You should apply if
The role will particularly suit you if you have an interest in evaluating natural experiments and more broadly in analysing data using quantitative methods applied to (public) health research. In particular, if you have experience in conducting area-level timeseries data and studies around children and young people and violence. You should have experience in engaging with stakeholders and of managing other researchers and/or students. You should have a higher degree in a relevant discipline, and will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
