Job summary

We are looking for an inspirational individual with clinical experience who can inspire, enthuse, and connect with our students. You will teach on both the undergraduate and post graduate programmes including inter professional education across the college.

You will take an active role in all areas of student learning, teaching and assessment; this will also include the quality and administration duties associated with an excellent student experience. You will also be involved in the whole student pathway including admissions, academic advising, clinical placement, and pastoral support.

You must have current knowledge and understanding of critical, practical, and theoretical issues relevant to Peri-operative practice. A good honours degree (, UK or 1st Class), or equivalent professional qualification and experience in Operating Department Practice is essential as is registration with a recognised regulatory body.

About us

Our teaching team has a range of expertise in all areas of pre assessment, anaesthesia, surgical practice and post anaesthetic care. We also have an excellent relationship with clinical partners and part of the role is to support learning in placement in conjunction with clinically based practitioners.

The team currently consists of eight (full time and part time) members of staff who are responsible for planning, delivery and assessment of the operating department practice curriculum and post registration development. The team also participate in the teaching learning and assessment of interprofessional education in the faculty and are developing provision for the international market.

The team are based within the Robert Winston Building which provides excellent facilities and houses our operating theatre simulation and a variety of well-equipped clinical rooms.

The balance of these will vary between post holders.Student experience Designs and delivers innovative, high quality and challenging learning experiences. Equips students with the skills, knowledge and attributes required by employers through delivery of the curriculum. Contributes to the development of a sense of student community and acts as key contact for students. Assists with the operational delivery of courses / modules and acts proactively to address any emerging issues, escalating as appropriate. Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good honours degree ( UK or 1st Class), or
  • equivalent professional qualification or experience in a

  • Operating Department Practice, or nursing with
  • experience of the operating department or equivalent
  • Evidence of CPD portfolio of work or post registration

  • fellowship) or a commitment to complete the Hallam
  • Academic Award programme (if eligible - see above)
  • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered
