Research Engineer Position in Oncology (M/ F)

Publicerad 2024-05-07

Institut Curie is a major player in the research and fight against cancer. It consists of a Hospital group and a Research Center of more than 1000 employees with a strong international objective of the Research Center is to develop basic research and to use the knowledge produced to improve the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutics of cancers as part of the continuum between basic research and innovation serving the patient. The molecular oncology team is located at Curie Paris site but will move to Saint-Cloud Curie site mid-2025 or beginning 2026.

The first project aims at characterizing intra-tumoral heterogeneity and its role in resistance to treatments with a focus on interaction between tumor cells and microenvironment. This project, related to both basic and translational cancer research, gathers two teams with complementary expertise on bladder cancer biology and microenvironment. The project focus on muscle invasive bladder cancer (MIBC). We contributed to identify different sub-group of MIBC with potential therapeutic consequences. We notably showed that the basal subgroup presented an activation of the EGFR pathway and should benefit from anti-EGFR therapies. However, modest effects were observed in vivo in preclinical models and no benefit was observed in patients. In the other hand, basal tumors and mix tumors with a basal contingent present the worst prognostic after neo-adjuvant chemotherapy. The second project falls within the theme of the expanding field of molecular epidemiology. The objective will be to identify environmental exposure signatures from tumor sequencing data.
